CALCULATION GUIDE
Understand your calculation
Clear inputs, a practical example and the context you need to interpret your result.
How it works
Assay (%) = sample response ÷ standard response × standard potency (%). There is no additional factor of 100.
Inputs and units
Enter nonnegative sample response and potency and positive standard response. Use identical response units and enter 99.5 for 99.5% potency, not 0.995.
Worked example
980 ÷ 1000 × 99.5 = 97.510%.
Interpreting the result
The sample response corresponds to 97.51% on the assumed equal-concentration basis.
Assumptions and limitations
Only suitable when preparation concentrations and response factors match. Weights, dilutions, moisture, reference-standard corrections and calibration intercepts are not modeled. Use the approved analytical method.
