Molarity Calculator
M = moles ÷ litres
M = moles ÷ litresKeep units consistent. Record assumptions and independently verify critical results.
The result updates as valid values are entered.
CALCULATION GUIDE
Understand your calculation
Clear inputs, a practical example and the context you need to interpret your result.
How it works
Converts mass to grams and final volume to litres; molarity = mass ÷ molecular weight ÷ volume.
Inputs and units
Select mg, g or kg for mass; enter molecular weight in g/mol and final volume in mL or L. Molecular weight and volume must be positive; zero mass gives zero molarity.
Worked example
5.844 g ÷ 58.44 g/mol ÷ 1 L = 0.100000 mol/L.
Interpreting the result
The result is moles of the stated solute per litre of final solution.
Assumptions and limitations
Use the correct hydrate or salt molecular weight. No purity, moisture, dissociation or temperature correction is applied.
